Lucy Hickling

Born 1983, Kingston-upon-Thames, Currently living and working in London.

My work is often influenced by my surroundings. I did my illustration degree in Bristol and many places around the city were used in my illustrations. The Georgian buildings, the zoo and the docks were all plaxes that inspired me.

While studying for my degree I produced three childrens books, all based around different animal characters. In my third year I was delighted to be highly commended by the judges at the Macmillan Children's Book Award's, for my book, a penguin named Jimmy who wanted to look different from his friends.

Primarily I work on A3 scale in pencil and acrylic mixing vibrant colours, I also have a passion for printing, and love the effects that can be achieved using different techniques.
